I am a Scottish ceramicist working from my studio within the Glasgow Ceramics Studio, where I create predominately wheel thrown functional stoneware vessels and objects designed to bring calm into everyday life. My work is rooted in the belief that simple, well-made objects can transform ordinary moments into ones of quiet enjoyment. Whether it’s a cup that holds your morning coffee or a vase that cradles a seasonal stem, each piece is crafted to offer a small escape from the chaos of daily life.
My ceramics are inspired by the clean lines and minimalism of Scandinavian design, blended with the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi, which finds beauty in imperfection. I work with a subdued palette of glazes to enhance the natural beauty of the clay. Using subtle brushstrokes of slip and iron oxide which add character and subtle variations to each piece, making them unique. My aesthetic is minimalistic, with a focus on creating objects that are not just visually pleasing but also functional. My background in design has given me a keen eye for detail, taking time and care to consider both the form and function of each piece.
The objects I create are meant to be used and loved, to become a part of the rituals of daily life. My practice is a reflection of my own desire for calm and connection and through the use of my ceramics I invite others to slow down and appreciate the beauty in simplicity.
